They are very versatile and can be connected to a computer, home stereo systems, gaming systems and even car stereos. All it takes to connect an iPod to a home stereo system is a cable and your iPod.   1. The first thing you will need to connect your iPod to your home stereo is an inexpensive 3.5mm stereo mini-jack to stereo RCA cable. You can purchase this cable at most electronic or retail stores.
  2. Connect the mini-jack to the headphone jack on your iPod. Connect the stereo RCA cables to the analog audio input on your home stereo system.
  3. Listen to your music. You can now listen to your iPod music on your home stereo system. You are able to control the volume from either the iPod or the home stereo system.

That is all it takes to connect your iPod to your home stereo. You are also able to use a docking station for your iPod to connect it to a boom box that comes with a docking station. For this you simply place the iPod on the docking station and you can listen to the music on your iPod. One of the cons of hooking the iPod to a home stereo is you can’t use a remote.
