How To Connect To Xbox Live With Dial Up
Did you know that you can actually use Xbox Live even with slow internet and that here, you will learn about how to connect to Xbox Live with a dial up connection? We understand that, in this economy, not everyone has high speed internet. Xbox Live is designed to work on only a high speed connection, but there are ways around it. Do keep in mind, though that you will not be able to play any on the Xbox Live games online. You will only be able to download patches for your games, content from the Marketplace, and buy the Live arcade games. If you tried to play a multiplayer online game, all it would do is freeze and run almost in slow motion.
You will need:
- Xbox 360
- Xbox Live account
- A PC or laptop with dial up access
- Ethernet cord
- First you will have to set up your Xbox Live account. You can do this online on Xbox Live’s website.
- After you have your Live account set up, go to the network connections on your PC or laptop and create a home network with your dial up as the main connection for that. From the Network and Sharing Center, go to create or set up a new network. From there select Set up a New Network; you will then be presented with a list of access points. Choose your dial up connection as the access point. You should then be able to configure the settings on your new network to allow sharing.
- Connect the ethernet cord from the ethernet port on your PC or laptop to the Xbox 360. Now the Xbox 360 should be connected to your dial up service. Now you can connect to Xbox Live on the dial up connection.
