How To Cope With Impotence
It hits every man periodically throughout his life, so being proactive and learning how to cope with impotence may help you get through this painful period with less anxiety. Impotence, also known as erectile disfunction (or ED), is characterized by an inability to obtain or maintain an erection.
- Learning how to cope with impotence means figuring out why it's occurring. The very first thing to do if ED hits you is to step back and analyze the situation. Was there a particular reason you can think of why you couldn't obtain or maintain an erection? Were you drunk, were you stressed? These are two of the prime causes of male impotence. So, start ruling things out. If you honestly can't think of any reason for the ED, got to step two. Note: if you ever wake up to an erection, it's not a physical thing, so a doctor visit is probably not needed.
- Get a checkup from your doctor. Male impotence may be caused by physical blockages to the blood flow to the penis which means an erection is impossible. A doctor will be able to check you out to rule out any physiological issues. It might be that your doctor will even draw blood to rule out any chemical issues within your body.
- Another coping mechanism with male impotence is to talk about it with your partner. Although it might be a painful and embarrassing conversation, talking to your girlfriend about your ED may just bring you closer. Working together for the solution is something that is preferable to the huge silence, which can happen after an episode. Impotence happens to all males at some point and it's quite possible your partner has had experience with the issue. Hopefully, she will be understanding and recognize that the ED issue is not because you didn't like her.
- One episode of male impotence can easily put you on edge and lead to another episode. The key to getting through a period of impotence and coping with the issue is to relax. Don't put so much pressure on yourself to perform. Instead, enjoying pleasing your girl and you just might find that this jump starts the body down there.
