How To Cope With Rejection
Learning how to cope with rejection is a tough lesson to learn. It's something that every single one of us has to face at one point or another, and it never gets easier. It hurts to be attracted someone only to find they don't feel the same. It's also difficult to face the fact that for whatever reason, we don't measure up to someone's idea of what is attractive or desirable. No matter how bad you may be hurting now, there are ways to cope with rejection and move on with your life.
- Realize it might not be about you: While most of us tend to focus on ourselves when we're rejected, it will help you cope with rejection if you realize that the person doing the rejection had reasons that had nothing to do with you. There are a million things that can be going on in someone's life that leave them feeling unreceptive to anyone's advances.
- Keep looking: As trite as it sounds, there really are other fish in the sea. Learning to cope with rejection means not setting all your hopes in one basket, so to speak. Look at it this way —if you're out of a job, you're going to fill out a lot of applications. You're not going to fill out one and give up when you don't get a job at the first place, right? You've got to have a job, so you're going to keep looking. Finding the right woman is similar. You might have to talk to a lot of girls before you find one that's "hiring."
- Learn from the rejections: Sometimes, a woman might give you a reason why she rejected you. While it may hurt at the moment, one way to cope with rejection is to use this later as a way to improve yourself.
Don't fall for the myth that looks are all that matters or that women only like "bad boys". The truth is women like a man who is confident. Even if you aren't the handsomest player in the club, if you have confidence and don't give up, you'll find a girl that likes you. The best way to cope with rejection is to keep trying.
