How To Count Cards In 21

Learning how to count cards in 21, or blackjack, is a great way to increase your winnings when you play. It does not necessarily mean that you will win more hands, but it means that you will be able to bet on your hands a lot better. The idea is to know whether the deck is balanced towards face cards or smaller cards. This technique you will learn is called "High-Low" card counting, and is basic, but effective. You have a coefficient, that starts at 0.

  1. Add one to your coefficient if a card valued two through six is played. This goes for every single card that is played. It seems daunting now, but once you get the hang of it, this will be like second nature.
  2. Subtract one from your coefficient if a card valued ten through ace is played.
  3. Bet more if the coefficient is high. This is because there are more aces and face cards in the deck, putting the advantage in your court. This becomes more effective the farther into the deck you get, because your count becomes more and more accurate that way.
  4. Do not be obvious about your betting. Do not increase the size of your bet too significantly when you are playing. If the dealer suspects that you are counting cards, he will reshuffle the deck, rendering your count pointless.

That's it. That is how you count cards in 21. That is the easy part. The hard part is implementing this in your play. And remember while not illegal, if you get caught counting cards, the casino could very well ban you from the premises and blacklist you from other casinos.
