How To Cover A Tattoo

There are many reasons why a person might want to cover a tattoo. Though these pieces of body art are often made to be permanent disfigurements, there are options available to you if you wish to cover up those memories or mistakes of the past. You might even have a less dramatic reason for covering a tattoo such as if  an occasion does not call for tattoos.  Here you will find both permanent and temporary solutions for whatever reason you have for covering a tattoo.

Items Needed:

  • Cover-Up
  • Additional Tattoo Ink
  • Eye-shadow
  1. The most basic solution is to use some kind of make-up based cover-up. These can be traditional cover-ups or a combination of eye-shadow and a make-up base. There are many combinations that you can possibly use for a temporary solution to this problem. You will need to consult the make-up's labeling to find out what skin tones it can best cover. You will not want to use a shade that is too light and leaves the possibility of still being visible or looking too conspicuous.   Apply the cover up on top of the tattoo and blend it in to your skin, you will probably want to apply several layers and make sure you blend it into your skin. Look for thick or cakey cover-up.  You might want to search for cover-up that is especially made to cover scars and other marks on the body.
  2. Another solution is to camouflage the tattoo. There are some tattoo artists that specialize in turning your tattoo into something that is more appealing or less painful to look at. Though this solution might be a little more costly, it can be a good way to solve the problem of remembering what the tattoo exemplified. Even inappropriate tattoos can be turned into something more socially acceptable. If you want to keep the tattoo but cover up whatever it if you no longer like about your tattoo, this is a good option.

Tips:

  • If all else fails, there are procedures akin to skin grafting that can be done. This is the most expensive and permanent solution to covering a tattoo because you will basically be getting rid of the tattoo completely. There are also laser-tattoo removal procedures that are as, if not more, expensive that can leave smaller scars.
