If you need a blank word form, you must know how to create a fillable form in Microsoft Word. Regardless of your Word user level, everyone can create a fillable form. The following steps will show you how to create a fillable form in Microsoft Word.

To create a fillable form in Microsoft Word, you will need:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Draft of your form

Steps

  1. Create a new document and put Forms Menu on Menu bars. The first step is to have a new document and the Forms Menu available. Go to the Tools Menu, and then select Customize. Click on the Toolbars tab, make sure that the Forms option has been checked. Close the Customize box when you are done.
  2. Add the type of fields you want on the form. The second step is to add necessary fields according to the draft of your form. Take a look at your Menu bars. The Form menu should be available. Select the field type by clicking on its button on the Form menu. Here are 3 examples: You will need 2 checkboxes for your Yes and No question on the form. Type in the question, then click on the Checkbox Form Field button. You will see a checkbox immediately. You will type in Yes afterwards. Repeat the same thing for the No selection. If you need a textbox, click on the Textbox Form Field button. Right click on the textbox if you need to modify its properties. If you need a drop-down menu, click on the Drop-Down Form Field button. In order to populate the options, right click on the drop-down field and you will see its options. Enter the drop-down item and click the Add button. Repeat this step for additional items and click OK.
  3. Save the form and turn on the Protect Form option. The last step is to save the form and the Protect Form option should be selected. Go to the File menu, then select the Save As option. Enter the desire form name and then click on Save. Click on the Form Protect button. Now your form should be saved and protected. The Form Protect option is to keep users from changing the content of your form.

You can create a fillable form in Microsoft Word by following these 3 steps. You don't need to be a computer guru in order to make this work. Now you can email or print your form to its users.
