How To Cure Heartburn

Learn how to cure heartburn and manage this chronic digestive disorder. Ideally, the esophageal sphincter holds partially digested food and stomach acid down. When this doorway is weak, hydrochloric acid, which is used to break down food, rises back up into the esophagus, potentially causing damage to the lining of the upper digestive tract. There are many factors which can lead to, and trigger this condition. There are also many steps which can be taken to help cure heartburn.

  1. Avoid foods that may trigger heartburn. Coffee, alcohol, chocolate, spicy, fried, and fatty foods, citrus, and peppermint can all make acid indigestion worse.
  2. Cure heartburn with aloe vera juice. This will soothe tissue and encourage the healing of the intestinal tract. Drink four ounces in the morning and evening, until you notice results. Aloe vera juice can be mixed with other fruit juices to mask the taste.
  3. Adjust your diet. To treat heartburn it is important to eat plenty of enzyme-rich fruits and vegetables. They will aid the digestive process and provide nutrients for healing.
  4. Alter how and when you eat. Simple changes such as chewing food more slowly, and not eating at least three hours before bed, can really help to cure heartburn.
  5. Elevate the body when lying down. Use pillows to prop up your head. This encourages acids to remain in the stomach, preventing heartburn while sleeping.

It is estimated that at least 60 million Americans suffer from this condition. Not only is it uncomfortable—with intense burning and pain around the chest area, but it can be dangerous as tissue becomes damaged. Understanding how to cure heartburn without medication is the only way to truly take control of your health.
