You rely on Gmail for your email, chats and calendar, and since you spend at least eight hours a day with the Gmail window open, you need to know how to customize Gmail. Google offers a variety of options that allow you to choose a Gmail theme, as well as chat and email preferences. Ensure that your Gmail account reflects your personality and accommodates to your email needs.
To customize Gmail, you’ll need:
- A Gmail account
- Internet access
- Visit www.gmail.com and log in with your username and password. If you don’t have an account, click Create an Account from this screen.
- Choose Settings from the upper right hand corner once you are logged into your account. This will open up a page with a variety of options which you can customize to suit your e-mail needs.
- Click Change Picture on the My Picture section of the General tab. Browse to upload the picture you want to represent you. Choose whether you would like this picture visible to everyone, or only to those with whom you can chat. From the General tab you can also choose the amount of conversations to appear per page, which superstars are available for email sorting, and set a signature to appear at the bottom of each email you write.
- Choose Themes from the settings tabs. Select one of the many options to set the look and feel for your Gmail. Google also offers further customization by allowing you to choose your own colors for your theme.
