Learn how to cut cigar. Cigars are very fragile items and if they are held or cut the wrong way, it could ruin the whole cigar. Not everyone can cut a cigar properly, so it is good to learn how to at some point, especially if you are a cigar or tobacco smoker. Follow these steps to begin properly cutting a cigar.

Things you will need:

  • Cigar
  • Razor
  • Flat surface
  1. Lay your cigar on a flat surface. It is important to have a flat surface underneath the cigar. Bumpy surfaces could cause your cigar to move unexpectedly. A bumpy surface could also cause your cigar cut to be imperfect.
  2. Grip the cigar with one hand. It is recommended that you grip the center of the cigar with your left hand if you are right handed and vice versa. Holding the cigar will ensure that it does not roll off the surface while you are trying to cut it. Use your thumb and index finger to hold the cigar in place. Once you get better with time, you may be able to come up with new techniques to hold the cigar in place.
  3. Begin dissecting the cigar straight down the middle. Take your razor and start from the top of the cigar. Do not apply too much pressure or it would cause the razor to puncture the other side of the cigar. Start a cut that goes all the way down, in a straight line, until the cigar is split in half. Your goal is to just cut the top layer of the cigar.
