One of the positive effects of the high divorce rate in the United States is that now you can learn how to date single older women. Whereas previously most older women were already married or so old that they were widowed, now you can date women of all ages. Older women make great girlfriends because they often have established careers and know what they want from life. If you've never dated a single older woman, though, you might need some tips about how to behave.

  1. Be honest and be yourself. Some guys get insecure around single older women. It's understandable; oftentimes, older women make more money and have more experience. Don't try to compensate for this insecurity by lying about yourself, your experiences or your interests though. She's going to know if you're fibbing about traveling around the world or reading Proust, and it's not going to impress her.
  2. Treat her like you would treat any other woman. You want to date single older women. You don't want to date your mom, though. Don't think that just because your date is older than you that she'll want to pick out your clothes and do your taxes for you. She probably also does not want to pay for every single date you go on just because she makes more money. Treat your single older woman like she is your equal.
  3. Refrain from making remarks about her age. You may have fantasized about dating single older women your entire adult life. That doesn't mean that your date wants to hear that she's a sexy grandma. Unless she refers to herself that way, she probably also doesn't want to hear you repeatedly refer to her as your cougar. She knows she's older than you, she doesn't need to be constantly reminded.
