- Hit the gym. There is nothing like some exercise to help a person get over a breakup. Exercise naturally causes the body to release endorphins and dopamine, which causes you to feel happy and relaxed. You can run, bike, swim, lift weights or do whatever kind of exercise you want. The harder you work out, the more dopamine and endorphins will be released and the better you will feel. Furthermore, hard exercise will allow you to sleep better at night, which is another important part of the healing process. You will also be getting into shape and look better physically, which will give you confidence.
- Get some rest. Some people experience a lot of sleepless nights when dealing with breakups. This can really mess with your emotions and cause the situation to feel a whole lot worse than it really is. You must remember that there are plenty of other people out there for you and you should not be losing sleep over a breakup. Try exercising or meditating in order to help yourself fall asleep. If sleep loss is severe, you should seek medical attention and try some sleeping medicine for about a month or so until you can fall asleep on your own.
- Eat healthy food. Healthy food and a balanced diet is important for maintaining all the necessary chemicals in your body. When trying to deal with a breakup, some people cannot eat and others might be eating way too much. Try to stay on track and be focused. Eating healthy foods that keep your blood sugar levels even. You may even begin to get into better shape naturally by cleaning up your diet, which will increase your confidence and further help you deal with the break up.
- Meet other people. Go out with friends and try to meet other people. You probably will not want to get into a serious relationship right away, but it will definitely help for you to go out and have some fun. This will take your mind off of your ex and help build confidence if you have not been in the dating scene for a while. Be friendly and sociable and you will see that there are plenty of other people out there for you. You do not necessarily have to go to bars either. Try going to church or playing sports in adult or youth leagues to meet others.
- Talk with friends and family. A lot of people tend to hold their feelings in when trying to deal with a breakup. You are not weak if you talk to someone about the situation. In fact, it takes more courage for a lot of people to talk about it than it does to hold your emotions in. You can also seek help from a psychologist if necessary. People do not realize how much talking really can help you feel better. You can get a lot of pain and stress off of your chest if you just talk to some buddies or family about it who are willing to listen and be supportive.
