It is difficult figuring out how to deal with a divorce. If you are going through divorce, you are not alone. Even though you may feel alone, millions of people have been there and survived. Divorce has become relatively common. It is something you must accept and learn from. Pain and sadness are to be expected.

  1. Time heals all wounds. No matter how bad things may seem, they will get better. Don't rush the healing process. It is important not to jump from one relationship to another either. You have your entire life ahead of you. Focus on you for the time being. Avoid masking the pain with girls, alcohol, or drugs.
  2. Keep busy. Join a club or get a hobby. Buy a new toy if you can afford it after the divorce. Go for a drive or bike ride. Don't dwell on the situation. Surround yourself with positive friends and family. Even though your marriage didn't work, it doesn't change the person you are. Rediscover yourself. Find out what you enjoy and what makes you happy. You can't make someone else happy unless you are completely happy.
  3. Talk to others. There is always help out there if you feel lost. There are plenty of specialists and counselors who can help you cope with the divorce. For some, moving on is a part of life. Others may find it too painful to let go. No matter what you are feeling, you are not the first. A trained professional can evaluate the situation and provide additional support to help you through the divorce.
