Need to know how to diet for Candida? Adopting a diet for Candida can be helpful in controlling its overgrowth in the bowel. Large colonies of the yeast-like fungus propagate after the use of antibiotics or other medications which create an imbalance in the intestines that leads to Candida overgrowth. Eating foods that discourage its overgrowth and replacing native "friendly" bacteria is the best way to kill off these yeast colonies and restore the body to health.

To diet for Candida, you will need:

  • Natural, unsweetened yogurt with live, active cultures
  • Probiotics
  • Fresh garlic
  • Whole grains
  • Fresh vegetables
  1. Eliminate all sugar and white flour products. Candida thrives on sugars in the blood and that pass through the intestines. Avoiding white sugar and flour as well as other sugars, including honey, will help to kill off the yeast colonies through starvation.
  2. Add yogurt or other probiotics to your diet. Both yogurt and probiotics contain friendly bacteria which help destroy Candida and repopulate the bowel with its native flora, creating a healthier state. The yogurt should always be plain, unflavored and unsweetened, and it should say somewhere on the label that it contains live, active cultures.
  3. Eat garlic or drink garlic tea. Garlic is known for its anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties, which act to kill Candida. Adding garlic to food is one way to add it to a Candida diet. However, making garlic tea by steeping a clove of garlic in a cup of hot water for fifteen minutes is another option. Remove the garlic clove and drink the tea for an excellent cleanse for the colon.
  4. Add lots of green vegetables and whole grains to your diet to support the system during attacks of Candida. Raw or cooked, fresh vegetables introduce nutrients, vitamins and minerals necessary for good nutrition.

By removing sugars from the diet and adding healthy bacteria, a Candida problem can be easily overcome.
