Learning how to do a back flip on a snowboard is a common trick that any snowboarder seeking to becoming a professional should learn how to perform. When performing backflips while snowboarding, always place saftey first. Wear the proper protective gear while snowboarding and make sure the path is clear of other snowboarders before attempting backflips or any other type of snowboarding trick. Before attempting advanced snowboarding tricks like backflips know what you are doing and make sure your timing is right.

  1. Gain Enough Speed. When learning how to do a backflip on a snowboard, drop in slowly down a large snowboarding ramp. The trick is gaining adequate speed to reach a height to launch of the ramp to successfully perform a back flip. The higher the ramp, the better for gaining more speed and launching higher.
  2. Approach the Ramp at an Angle. When learning how to do a backflip on a snowboard keep your knees bent. Additionally keep your body low to maintain balance and the proper speed for landing as you approach the launch ramp at a slight angle. Approaching the ramp at an angle will help your head clear of the ramp as opposed to potentially falling backwards towards the launch ramp.
  3. Push your Shoulders Back. Throw your shoulders back and pop up with your legs as you extend your body into a vertical spin upon reaching the edge of the lip. Keep pushing your shoulders back towards the ramp. This will help your feet rotate overhead in a backwards motion, maintaining momentum, when learning how to do a backflip on a snowboard.
  4. Create Spin. Learning how to do a backflip on a snowboard requires keeping your head back to check your rotation and how much spin is required before landing. Increase your spin mid-air by drawing your body closer together. Slow down your spin mid-air by straightening your body out as if attempting to stand.
  5. Shift your Weight. Place more weight on the back end of the board as you prepare for the impact of landing when doing a backflip on a snowboard. The middle of your snowboard should touch the ground first. Keep the board flat and level as you land.
