How To Do Basic BMX Tricks
Learning how to do basic BMX tricks will be one of the easiest things that you have ever done in your entire life. These tricks are focused on preparing you for bigger and harder tricks. With practice or maybe even no practice at all, many of these tricks will become second nature to you. Here are a few steps that will help you to do basic BMX tricks.
To do basic BMX tricks, you will need:
- BMX bike
- Bunny hop. Pedal your BMX bike at a slow and steady pace. Use your weight and handle bars to pull up your front wheel then quickly put it down and pull up your back wheel. This is almost like you are hopping except you are using a bike.
- Catwalk. In this BMX trick, you use some of the things that you learned in the bunny hop. Lift your front wheel off the ground using your weight, arms and handlebars. Place the majority of your weight on your back wheels. This trick requires a certain amount of balance, but your goal is to have your front wheel in the air and your back wheel on the ground.
- 180 handlebar spin. As you come off of a drop, use both of your hands to grab the handlebars and spin them around. Try doing this trick without the drop first. Practicing the bunny hop and catwalk help get riders accustomed to how their bike feels off of the ground.
Now that you know how to do basic BMX moves, you can put your newfound skills to the test.
