Knowing how to do flip tricks on a skateboard allows you to do a variety of great looking tricks. Learning how to do flip tricks on a skateboard also opens the door to many variations of tricks at different difficulty levels.  Follow these easy steps to start the process.

  1. Get your feet in the proper position. The first step in learning how to do flip tricks on a skateboard is getting your feet positioned correctly. Your back foot should be up on the tail of the skateboard, as if you are getting ready to ollie. Your front foot should be a bit past halfway up the board. Remember to have your knees bent, to give your legs power as you attempt the flip trick.
  2. Pop the tail of the skateboard. The next step in learning how to do flip tricks on a skateboard is getting the skateboard in the air. To do this, start out as if you are doing an ollie and use your back foot to pop the tail of the skateboard down.
  3. Commence the flipping. Once you have popped the tail of the skateboard, you are ready to do a flip trick. Instead of rolling your front foot to the front of the board like in an ollie, you will be rolling your front foot forward and off the side of the board. You get the rotation on the board by rolling your foot off the side of the board, and the direction of rotation depends on which side you rolled your foot off of.
  4. Land the trick. The last step in learning how to do flip tricks on a skateboard is landing the trick. Simply catch the top of the board with your feet after it has flipped to stop the rotation, and gravity will bring you down on top of the board.

You now know all about how to do flip tricks on a skateboard! Now practice, practice, practice!
