How Do I Beat Level 4 World Of Goo?

Although it's much easier than later levels of the game, it can be tricky to figure out how to beat Level 4 in "World of Goo" on your first try. The level, entitled "Impale Sticky," features a pile of goo balls under a ledge, with the exit above, a spinning wheel at the end of the ledge, and sleeping goo balls under the exit pipe, which you must awaken by building the goo tower near them. The trick is to build around the spinning wheel, which will pop and destroy your goo balls if they touch it.

How to beat Level 4 "World of Goo":

  1. Start building out to the left and down. Attach a goo ball, close to the ground, to the upper left and lower left corners of the starting box. Add another goo ball at an upward angle, then attach a third below it. The beginnings of your tower should hug the edge of the ledge above the water; this gives you greater stability later.
  2. Add goo balls going to the left and up. Once you have a sturdy enough base for your tower, start adding goo balls in a narrow strip upwards. If you get too close to the spinning wheel, add more weight on the left side. If your tower starts tilting too far to the left, add some goo balls at the base of the upward strip to keep it sturdy. Continue building up until your tower has passed the spinning wheel and is at the same height as the top ledge.
  3. Build to the right to meet the ledge. If you've balanced your tower properly, the top should lean to the right slightly until it hits the ledge and then stop, without touching the spinning wheel and destroying all your hard work.
  4. Wake the sleeping goo balls. Continue adding goo balls along the ground to the right. As your tower reaches the sleeping goo balls, they will wake up, and you will be able to move them around.
  5. Add a goo ball on top to reach the exit pipe. The pipe will suck up the leftover goo balls. If you've constructed your tower well, you'll have at least 26 goo balls left, enough to beat the level.

Tips:

  • If you make a bad move or hit the spinning wheel, click a time bug to undo your last move.
