Have you ever asked yourself the question, “How do I get my girlfriend to lose weight?” Now, do not feel guilty, and do not be afraid to admit it. In fact just about every guy in the world has faced this dilemma. Their girlfriend or wife has put on a few pounds, and they would like them to lose the weight. Of course this is not going to be easy, and there is a lot of danger included. So when following these tips on how to get your girlfriend to lose weight, remember that you are going to have to be careful, cunning, and tactful.

  1. First, tactfully begin to gauge if your girlfriend is self conscious about her weight. This is easy.  Constantly pulling at her clothes, trying on different outfits, or coming right out and complaining about being fat are dead give a ways.
  2. If you sense that she feels comfortable with her body, then perhaps you should reevaluate pursuing this any further. It is better to have a confident, slightly overweight girlfriend, then a self conscious anorexic one.
  3. If she is not comfortable with her body weight, then take advantage of opportunities to suggest new diets, work out routines, or other ways for your girlfriend to lose weight. For instance, if she says, “Boy I have really started to put on a couple of pounds.” You should reply, “Honey, while you look beautiful to me, if you really are not comfortable with your self, then perhaps you should consider joining the new gym that just opened down the street.”  Remember, you can not just come right out and tell your girlfriend that she should lose weight.  This will only spark a heated argument; one that you can not win.
  4. Another great way to get your girlfriend to lose weight is to start making healthy changes in your own life. Start eating more sensibly and watching your portion size.  You can also begin a work out routine and try to include her. If she starts seeing your success, then she may just be motivated to join you.
