How Do I Link To My Facebook Profile?

If you are one of over 500 million Facebook users, you may be asking yourself, "How do I link to my Facebook profile?" Facebook, the widely-used social network that launched in February 2004, has multiple options for its participants to share typed comments, videos and digital photographs from their Facebook profile. To find out how to get your online content properly linked to your Facebook profile, just following these simple instructions.

To link content to your Facebook profile you will need:

  • Computer
  • Internet access
  • Facebook profile
  • Content to link
  1. The publisher box. Typing inside the publisher box located at the top of your Facebook profile gives you the option to create an event, upload photos and videos, and link to an external web address. After adding the content you wish to publish, click "Share." Before exiting you can also choose to make the content private by clicking the "lock" icon and selecting the names of friends you want to make able to view your content.
  2. The links page. You can link an external website to your Facebook profile by going to the Links page, entering the appropriate URL into the right sidebar and clicking "Post."
  3. Linking from Facebook's partner sites. If you want to link a website that happens to be a Facebook partner to your profile, click the "Share on Facebook" link. This will generate a Share Box in a separate window where you will then select "Post."
  4. Linking your bookmarked sites. If you have some of your favorite websites saved in your web browser's bookmark bar, you can link them to your Facebook profile as well. You begin this process on the "Links Page" and drag over the "Share on Facebook" bookmarklet to your browser's bookmark section. Also, if you are already on a site that you would like to link to your Facebook page, just click on the bookmarklet, select the "Post to Profile" option and then click "Post" to add it.

Linking websites that you frequent often or suddenly discover and find interesting is a great away to share information with family and friends. It also helps those you are meeting for the first time get a better idea of the things that excite you when they visit your Facebook profile.
