Learning how to do MMA submission moves requires determination, dedication, and diligence. You will have to train hard and practice often in order to learn, remember, and be able to use these moves in an actual MMA match. After you have practiced to the point where you can do these moves in your sleep, you will start using them in matches without even realizing what you are doing, and this is when you will become a dangerous opponent. Once you have mastered enough MMA submission moves and their counters, most of your opponents will show you respect and even fear you.

  1. The best way to learn how to do MMA submission moves is to find an instructor in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Jiu jitsu teachers will be able to show you all the basic stances such as guard and mount, and then you can learn the submissions moves for each stance. It will take years of dedicated training before you are a master at these moves, but the more you practice the quicker you will learn and advance.
  2. Buy a book that teaches about how to do submissions moves. This is the next best alternative to having a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor. Good manuals will have diagrams and detailed instructions on how to do submission moves and when to use them.
  3. Practice the counters to submission moves as well. This is equally as important as learning how to do the MMA submissions moves themselves. By learning the counters you will be not only good at offense but defense as well. If you apply yourself enough and practice a lot you will be able to defeat most opponents.
  4. The most important part of learning how to do MMA submissions moves is practicing. You will need to practice at least every other day so that you can advance quickly while still memorizing and mastering the original moves you learned. Mastering the basics is very important before being able to learn the more advanced submissions moves.
