How To Do Skimboard Tricks
Every skimboarder needs to learn how to do skimboard tricks. There are three main types of skimboard tricks: ollies, the pop shove-it, and spin moves. The following guide will teach you what you need to know to do each of these essential skimboard tricks.
To do skimboard tricks, you will need:
- A skimboard
- A large body of water
- Knee and elbow pads (optional)
A helmet (optional)
- To perform an ollie, you need to get a running start. Jump on your board and pick up a good amount of speed. Next, you need to push down the back of your board hard and fast enough to create some airtime, while simultaneously lifting your front foot. It may take a few tries to get the right speed and strength of the kick, but it is well worth the practice. The ollie is an extremely popular skimboard trick.
- To perform a pop shove-it, set your back foot down on the back of the board and your front foot somewhere near the middle. Next, use your back foot to force the board sideways while you are in the air. The back of the board must be in the front upon landing. The pop shove-it is one of the simplest skimboard tricks.
- To perform the spin move, get the board going as fast you can. Next, use your fingers to barely touch the ground and force yourself into a spin. Twist your body in a fast and hard movement and you should spin 180 or 360 degree. This skimboard trick does not require that you get any airtime.
