Learning how to do soccer juggling tricks requires patience and persistence. Soccer juggling is a practice that requires a great deal of repetition to effectively master. The ability to effectively juggle will also increase a player's ball control and improve all aspects of player's ball handling skills including dribbling, passing and shooting.

To learn to juggle, you will need:

  • Three different sized soccer balls
  • Soccer cleats
  1. Begin by purchasing different size soccer balls so you can gradually increase the difficulty level. Practice bouncing the ball with your feet against a wall and work on keeping the ball bouncing in the air against the wall.
  2. Using the larger sized ball, practice balancing the ball on your foot for as long as you can. Once a feel for the ball has developed and your feet are used to balancing the surface, work your way towards gradually juggling the ball between both feet with light and controlled movements. These "keep-ups" are the basis for more advanced tricks that can be learned over time.
  3. Make sure to spend more time on your weaker foot. Practicing only on the foot you tend to favor is a serious impairment to learning the art of juggling. Effectively balancing between either foot is necessary to advance on to more demanding juggling tricks.
  4. Begin practicing with smaller sized balls. A miniature soccer ball is an ideal tool for increasing the difficulty of juggling and developing a foundation for advanced tricks.
  5. Experiment with your juggling skills and add more complicated routines. Practice using your head to balance the ball and transition from head to feet. For the most advanced jugglers, the heel can also be used to transition the ball from front to back. Keep adding to your routine and transitions until you have developed your own style of freestyle soccer juggling.
