How to do a Tailgrab on a Snowboard

Knowing how to do a tailgrab on a snowboard can turn some heads on the slopes. As an added bonus, learning how to do a tailgrab on a snowboard is a fairly simple process. Before you start learning how to do a tailgrab on a snowboard, you will need to gather the following items.

  • Snowboard
  • Ramp or Halfpipe
  • Helmet

Once you have gathered these items, it is time to start learning how to do a tailgrab on a snowboard.

  1. Approach the ramp or halfpipe. The first step in learning how to do a tailgrab on a snowboard is getting in a normal stance. If you ride goofy, this means your right foot should be your front foot. If you ride normal, your right foot should be your front foot. If you don't do this, your trick will be considered switch.
  2. Keep your knees bent. Remember to keep your knees bent when you approach the jump. This will allow you to give yourself an extra boost as you hit the jump and get more air. This not only provides you with more time to perform a tailgrab, but also makes it look better. 
  3. Do the tailgrab. Reach back and grab the back end of your snowboard with your back hand while you are in the air. If you are goofy you will be grabbing with your left hand, if you are regular you will grab with your right. You can hold on for as long as you want as long as you let go in time to land.
  4. Land the tailgrab. The last step in learning how to do a tailgrab on a snowboard is landing the trick. When you land allow your body to squat down a bit to absorb the impact of the landing. Then ride over to the girl who was just impressed by your moves and strike up a conversation. You now know all there is about how to do a tailgrab on a snowboard.
