How to learn windsurfing tricks:
- Always check your gear before hitting the sail. Be certain to put on a life vest as well. You never know when you will need it. Hit the water and warm up a bit. Once you are ready, you can start some of the basics to prepare to do windsurfing tricks.
- Hone your skills. Start by working your foot movement over the board. Shift from heel to toe and around the board, without moving the sail. Do this with your left foot as lead and then your right foot.
- Mimic this same movement, only this time add the swing of the sail. Work the arms and feet in unison to gain balance, coordination and an understanding of the board. This will increase your management of the board and sail and intensify your balance.
- Once you master this, you can move to step over and sail spins. Keep a firm grip and a slight lean and step over from foot to foot. Ideal is to maintain solid foot contact and balance. Next pull back on the sail and push it forward or back as you follow the flow of the sail. This process will open the door to many tricks once mastered.
