Are you asking the question, "how do you insert a trackball on a Blackberry?" Blackberry smart phones benefit from a good trackball cleaning every now and then to improve function. Follow these easy steps for how to insert a trackball in a Blackberry.

You'll need the following.

  • a Blackberry smart phone (directions given are for the Blackberry Curve 8310 model)
  • a Blackberry trackball assembly
  1. Check the parts. If you've had to order a new trackball assembly, then check to make sure you have ordered the correct trackball, and that the parts of the assembly are all there. You should have a trackball mounted inside a small assembly and cover ring that snaps in over the top.
  2. Insert the trackball. Orient the trackball so that the two connectors on the side of the assembly are facing horizontally. With the round trackball facing out, drop the trackball assembly into the Blackberry.  If the trackball does not slide easily into the slot, then you may not have it oriented properly.  Check to make sure that the connectors are horizontal and not vertical, and that the ball side is facing out toward you.
  3. The ring. After the trackball has been inserted into the Blackberry, you'll need to snap in the retaining ring. The retaining ring has two "snaps," or tabs, on either side that snap in over the trackball assembly. Orient the retaining ring horizontally, as you did with the trackball assembly, and gently snap the ring over the trackball. Do not force the ring, or you will risk breaking the tabs off of the sides of the ring.
