How do you install a TV Converter box? This is important if you want to view over the air TV channels. You will need to use a converter box if your TV cannot currently receive the signal, which would be the case if it was not designed to receive digital over the air channels. You might have heard about the digital transition for TV. It's important to know that if you have satellite or cable TV connected to your TV, you will not need a converter box. Follow these steps to install a TV converter box.

What you will need:

  • TV converter box
  • Coaxial cable
  • TV Antenna
  1. Unplug any antenna currently attached to your TV. You will use this connection to attach it to the converter box so it will need to be available.
  2. Plug the antenna in to the antenna port on the back of the converter box. Attach a coaxial cable to the connection labelled To TV.  Attach the other end to the connection on the TV that used to be attached to the antenna.
  3. Plug in the power cord for the converter box. Make sure it is powered on. Turn on the TV and scan for channels to test the converter box.
  4. If you cannot see any TV channels when using the converter box, make sure that the antenna and all cables are fully attached. Make sure the TV is on the correct channel or input as well. Otherwise you can check the manual for your specific converter box.
