Attach the pedometer to a belt or waistband in order to achieve optimal results.

- Open the door of your pedometer at the end of the day, when you will be doing more walking. Read how many calories you have burned and steps you have taken in that day.
- Be knowledgeable about your pedometer. It is important to understand how your pedometer tracks distance and calories. Typically, it takes about 2,000 steps to cover one mile. Therefore, when you are reading your pedometer, if it says you have done 4,000 steps in a day, that means you've walked two miles. In addition, there are 3500 calories in one pound. If your pedometer says you've burned 7,000 calories, you've burned two pounds.
