How Does The Internet Work
Many people may wonder how does the internet work, since we use it all the time. The Internet works with a number of different users operating computers and servers over a network that is operated by an internet service provider. Considering most of us rely on the internet all of the time, knowing how the internet works in basic terms is like knowing the basics of how a car or a bike works. Below is a basic breakdown of how the internet works from the design of a web page to the moment it pops up in front of you on your computer.
A web page designer will build a page on their computers, using a specific type of web design program, like iWeb or Dreamweaver. There are many of these programs that you can choose from, depending on your skill as a a web designer. The web designer or the person who hired the web designer will have to buy a domain in order to put their website up, or at least rent space on a server so that their finished website can be put up online. This newly designed web page will have to use the Internet to get to whoever owns the server, but will not be able to be accessed by the general public. Prices vary based on the size of the website that is being put up on it. Once the web page up on the server, it is then posted onto the Internet for the general public to access with the web address. This part of how the Internet works is one that most people know best. You go on a computer that has an internet connection through an Internet service provider, like Verizon or AT&T, open your web browser and type the correct web address into the small section at the top of the page. You will now be able to go from place to place on the Internet.
