Learning how to dot a golf handicap card can create an even playing field for opponents of different skill levels by giving strokes to those of weaker skill on the links. Your handicap is determined by your previous play with a complicated formula that adjusts for the difficulty of the course that you played.
When using handicap to determine the better player that day on the links, each golfer will use his or her handicap to dot their golf handicap card. These numbers will be compared with the player with the smallest handicap getting no strokes. Dotting a golf card keeps track of the strokes with small dots within each player's space for each hole.
- Players gets one stroke, starting with the hardest hole on the course and working their way to the easiest. The hardiest hole on the course has a handicap of one and the easiest hole has a handicap of eighteen. A golf handicap card dot is place in the corner of each hole box for that player who will get a stroke.
- For example, three players are competing and player A has a handicap of fifteen, player B has a handicap of ten and player C has a handicap of five. In this case, player A will place a dot in the corner of the holes of which the handicap is one through fifteen, player B will place a dot in the corner of the holes of which the handicap is one through ten and player C will place a dot in the corner of the holes of which the handicap is one through five.
- If a player's handicap is more than eighteen, then they will put another dot on their handicap card in the next hole hardest hole after they finish placing a dot in the first eighteen holes boxes. For instance, if a player's handicap is twenty, they will place one dot in each hole's box and then a second dot in the hole box with the handicap of one and a second dot on their golf handicap card in the hole box with the handicap of two.
