How To Download Safari 4

Updating your browser by knowing how to download Safari 4 can be a great way to get new features, and ensures that your browser can work with all of the latest media and sites that you use in your daily life. With these simple directions, you can get your new browser up and running in no time. Just be sure to find your operating system below and follow the steps.

What You Need to Update to Safari 4

  • The computer you want to update the browser on.
  • Access to the internet.
  • Access permission to download for your user account.

For Mac Users

  1. Make your way to the Download Safari page: www.apple.com/safari/download/
  2. Choose the radio button for your version of OSX (Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard)
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Click on download now.
  5. Make your way to the downloads folder (Mac Hard Drive -> Downloads)
  6. Double click on the icon for Safari 4 to open the installer.
  7. Drag the icon to the Mac Hard Drive file to install.
  8. Open your browser to confirm that it has installed. If you want to access it easily, drag the icon to the dock.

For Windows Users

  1. Make your way to the Download Safari page for Windows Users: www.apple.com/safari/download
  2. Use the radio buttons to choose download. If you have Quick Time already installed, do not choose the option with Quick Time.
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Click on Download Now.
  5. Your computer will ask you where you want to save the file to. Save it to the desktop.
  6. Once the install is done, shrink down your web browser.
  7. On your desktop you will see the installer. Open it by double clicking.
  8. The installer will ask you some basic personal questions. Answer them, and click next.
  9. Continue clicking next until you come to the final button labeled Install.
  10. Click on Install.
  11. Allow the installer to run. It should notify you when the install is complete.
  12. Open your browser to confirm that it has installed. If you want to access it easily then put an icon on the desktop or pin it to your start menu.

Warnings

  • Before you install, be sure to check the minimum system requirements against your computers set-up.
  • Advanced setup preferences do exist, but you should not need to access them to install on your computer. Use them at your own risk.
  • You may have to restart after an install to see the changes take effect.
