Learning how to draw cars is based totally on your imagination and your ability to create a scene that brings the car to life. When it comes to drawing cars, or anything else for that matter, you can't learn it over night. Becoming an artist takes a lot of practice. In the case of learning to draw cars, a car's contours and curves and dimensions need to be examined. The great thing about art is that it is a direct expression of its creator. While you're perfecting your drawing style and learning exactly how to draw cars, you're learning a lot about how you view the subject matter. Your idea of the perfect car may be different than someone else's, but it's your ability to manifest the ideas in your head and make them appear on the paper, or the canvas, or some other sort of medium that matters. Lets draw some cars.

  1.  It's all about you. You are the artist. What you say goes. Your drawing represents how you view the subject matter. Drawing cars really depends on how you want them to look. You'll choose the colors. You'll choose the scene you want your car to appear in, if there's any scene at all. It's all up to you. Just be creative.
  2. The classic cars. Cars like the Shelby GT500 Mustang or an old school Charger invoke certain feelings to people. You want to grab some attention? Draw these cars in scenes that show how much these cars rock. Here's a good idea. Blur out the background with a decent shading technique and just focus on the car moving at blazing speeds. Decent shading can go a long way in creating life in a picture. If you can invoke a certain feeling from your drawing, then you're drawing cars quite well.
  3. Shading and coloring. Shading and coloring techniques are of great importance when drawing cars. Play around with certain line types and color schemes. Shading and coloring can be like the words to a good book. a basic drawing of a car doesn't say much. By adding colors you can change the feel of the car. By adding shading and swooshing lines you can create action for the car. You can tell a story with a good combination of shading and coloring when you're drawing cars.
  4.  Concept Cars. Here's where your imagination can run wild. These vehicles are constructed in the factory of your mind. Therefore, there are no rules for drawing these cars. Go nuts. Whatever you want them to have, whatever you want them to look like is totally up to how you're feeling at the time. Just remember, Shading and coloring are what add life to your vehicles.
