How to Dress for Airline Travelling

Learning how to dress for airline travelling should be simple and straightforward. Dress comfortably, particularly for airline flight travel longer than five hours. Always consider flight time, layover time and security inspections when you dress for airline travel. Unless you're flying first class and have a business meeting to attend to as soon as you arrive from your flight, dressing formally is unnecessary and won't be very comfortable.

  1. Flight Time Jeans are not the most comfortable attire when flying on airlines. Elastic waistbands, like sweats, make it easier to sleep on airplanes. Wearing comfortable clothing doesn't mean you have to look like you just got out of bed, either. There are plenty of hip track suits for men to choose from. Slip on shoes such as sandals, flip-flops, or a nice pair of leather loafers for the business casual look adds extra comfort as you are able to easily slip them on and off a long airline travel flight.
  2. Layover Time Airports are open 24 hours a day. Because of this and because of the nature of some layover flights, some people may even choose to sleep at the airport overnight during a layover. If you're one of these people, pajamas are a must. Dressing for airline travel is all about comfort and simplicity.
  3. Security Inspections During security inspections, all jewelry, belts, and watches have to be taken off for the metal detector, as well as shoes. This is another major reason why wearing slip on shoes is easier and more convenient for airline travel. Because jewelry, belts and watches are prohibited from airline metal detectors, it's best not to wear any accessories. The simpler your outfit is, the more efficient your airline travel experience will be.
  4. Destination The final thing to consider when dressing for airline travel is your destination. Check the weather and consider your destination's climate. Dressing in layers will help transition from a cooler climate to something warmer. Wearing a zip-up sweater over a simple shirt is great for layering. Airline travel can add up to a lot of hours so try not to stress too much on what to wear. Enjoy your experience and look forward to your destination.
