Knowing how to dress for winter weddings is important if you want to look your best. You don't want to cause a fashion faux pas, so follow these tips to be sure you know what to wear to a winter wedding.

  1. Basic suit and tie. Pull out your staple black dress suit and your favorite tie. For a winter wedding, a black suit and tie is the perfect attire. Not only will you look good, but you probably own a black suit, so you won't have to buy one. You can wear a white button down shirt, or spice it up a little with a dark red or blue shirt. Darker colors are more appropriate when attending a winter wedding.
  2. A more casual affair. If you are attending a more casual wedding, you can get away with wearing a nice pair of slacks, a dress shirt and a sports coat to a winter wedding. Darker colored khakis or black slacks are the best color for a winter wedding. Be sure to color coordinate your shirt and sports jacket with your slacks.
  3. Go all out. Whether you are in the wedding party, or just going to a super fancy wedding, wearing a tux is always appropriate. A tux will keep you warm, and you'll look good at the same time. If you don't own a tux, you can always rent one to wear to a winter wedding.

Tips:

Since you are dressing for a winter wedding and it's probably cold outside, you can always wear a nice, dressier coat over your suit or tux. If you are going with a more casual look, you can even get away with adding a stylish scarf for extra warmth.
