How To Drink Gin
The best ways how to drink Gin is a matter of taste and bartending skills. A popular Gin cocktail is a Gimlet which is a simple alternative to drinking a Martini. Another easy way to drink Gin is to mix a Gibson with Gin and Dry Vermouth with a pearl onion. The most basic of all Gin drinks is a Gin and Tonic which is mixed in a tall glass over ice.
Gin and Tonic
To make a Gin and tonic, you will need:
- 2 ounces Gin
- 5 ounces Tonic water
- wedge of Lime
- Fill a highball glass ¾ full with ice.
- Pour the Gin over the ice. Fill the glass the rest of the way with tonic water. Stir well and garnish with a wedge of fresh lime.
Gimlet
To make a Gimlet, you will need:
- 2 ounces Gin
- ½ ounce Lime Juice
- Wedge of Lime
- Chill a Martini glass. Rinse a martini glass with clear water and place in the freezer while still wet for at least 30 minutes.
- Fill a cocktail shaker. Combine the Gin and lime juice in a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake well to mix and dilute the ingredients. Strain into a chilled martini glass and give the Gimlet a lime squeeze before serving.
Gibson
To make a Gibson, you will need:
- 2 ounces Gin
- 2 drops Dry Vermouth
- Pearl Onion
- Chill a Martini glass. Rinse a martini glass with clear water and place in the freezer while still wet for at least 30 minutes.
- Fill a cocktail shaker. Combine Gin and Dry Vermouth in a cocktail shaker and fill the shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a pearl onion.
Tips: Lemon can be used as a substitute for fresh lime. Do not use store brand or plain wrap Gin. Do not sacrifice quality for price.
