If you enjoy exciting challenges, you may want to learn how to drive a race car. Driving a race car is challenging because of the extremely high rate of speed at which they travel. In addition, tires often blow out and you need to make frequent pit stops for repairs and refueling. By following these steps you can learn some valuable tips on race car driving.

  1. Remember your basic driver's education rules when learning to drive a race car. Never turn your wheels and brake at the same time when you drive a race car. Applying the brakes while making a left turn may cause a slide out. Instead, ease off your throttle as opposed to applying the brakes when making turns.
  2. Keep the throttle steady until you have reached your limit point in the race car. This refers to the same spot at every turn when your visibility is impaired by oncoming traffic.
  3. Firmly rest your back against the back of the racing seat. This allows you to keep your steering steady when you drive your race car. Although you should maintain a slightly rigid position when driving your race car, you should also maintain a position that affords you maximum comfort.
  4. Exert only slight pressure on the brakes to prevent them from locking when in an emergency situation. When learning to drive a race car, many people tends to jam on their brakes, which can cause a spin out or dangerous skids.
  5. Learn how to best be aware of your surroundings. Instead of excessively relying on the side mirrors when you are learning to drive a race car, try using a series of fast head checks and utilizing your central vision when monitoring the ever-changing traffic situation on the race track.
