How To Eat Healthy Foods
If you are trying to improve your health, or lose weight, you may be confused as to how to eat healthy foods. This is understandable as many of us don't learn this when growing up. In addition, there is a lot of conflicting information about how to do so in the media and news. Healthy eating is the key to both physical and mental well-being. In some ways, food is medicine and fuel for you to lead a long and healthy life, barring unexpected accidents or the like. Regardless of new studies and fads in terms of diet and exercise, some universal truths remain with regards to how to eat healthy foods.
- Limit your consumption of processed foods. It may not be realistic to limit all of them, especially if you have a busy schedule. Processed foods are generally foods that come in a box or have been processed in some way. Foods that are not processed are those that occur in nature. Some examples include chicken, bok choy and apples.
- Include green vegetables with at least two meals per day. This is an excellent goal as this will help to fill you up, but will also ensure that you receive the recommended and necessary amounts of vegetables required for a healthy diet. Green vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables, provide important nutrients such as calcium.
- Invest in lots of spices to flavor your food. Adding spices to your food will give it flavor without you having to add sugar, salt or fats. No only is this good for your waistline, but it's also beneficial for your overall health.
Tip: Drink at least eight glasses of water per day.
