How To Exercise Abs

Learning how to exercise abs is a big curiosity for most people. This over-analyzed process does not require a lot of machinery nor does it require the help of professional trainers to get the perfect abs. In fact, there is no machinery needed at all to exercise abs the proper way. It only takes diligence, persistence and dedication to the following steps to achieve the ultimate abdominal muscles that are perfect for you.

  1. Try advanced sit-ups. Advanced sit-ups exercise more than one set of abs at the same time. These may be a little more difficult to pull off, but practice does make perfect. When you first begin advanced sit-ups, you should start with lower repetitions (preferably ten) and gradually build the reps to more each time (ideally 25 reps at a time). Examples of advanced sit ups include reverse sit-ups, planks and balancing sit-ups.
  2. Exercise the abs through non-traditional methods. Sometimes the non-traditional methods are best to exercise abs in more than one group at a time. This is accomplished through cardio exercises such as running, jogging or even brisk walking. These activities help to exercise abs by the twisting process, which naturally happens throughout the activity.
  3. Combine several exercises to complete a circuit. Create a circuit by doing several different exercises within a set period and repeating the exercises in the same order. The best circuit to exercise abs includes a high-intensity cardio exercise, followed by a floor exercise and ending with an advanced sit-up.

An example of a circuit includes jogging for five minutes; executing alternate one-arm sit-ups for approximately three minutes; placing your back on the floor and raise your legs about three inches off the ground while keeping your hands three inches above the floor with the palms down on either side of you. Hold this position for at least two minutes. To exercise abs and to get the maximum benefits from the circuit, repeat the process at least five times.
