Exercising at home is free and easy as well. If you're telling yourself you can't exercise because you don't have the time or money for a gym membership or fancy equipment, you're fooling yourself. The only thing you need to exercise at home is a desire to get healthy and fit.

  1. How about walking? This is the perfect exercise to do at home.  You can do it almost anywhere. You can walk in place while you're watching television, or you can go outside if the weather and the neighborhood works for you. Walking is an aerobic activity, because, if done properly, it will get your heart rate up. You should walk for 20 to 30 minutes, three to four times a week. Don't push yourself; this will result in soreness, and you can suffer from burnout.
  2. Dancing is another good aerobic exercise you can do at home. If you have a partner that's great, or maybe the cat will like to cut a rug with you. Anything that gets you moving is better than sitting in a chair with the remote in your hand.
  3. Another exercise that you can do at home is stretching. Before you get out of bed in the morning, take the time to stretch your arms over your head. Stretch your legs by pointing your toes toward the bottom of the mattress. When you climb out of the sack, reach your arms toward the ceiling. Touch your toes. Yoga is also a good kind of stretching exercise. You can buy yoga tapes or you might be able to find a yoga program on television. Stretching before and after you walk or run is also a good idea. Stretching helps you stay limber and it helps prevent muscle pulls and strains.
  4. If you want to know another type of exercise you can do at home, you may want to consider strength training. This kind of exercising builds those chest and arm muscles that the ladies love.

No matter what kind of exercises you like to do, exercising at home is a fun way to get fit. Exercising at home is an important part of getting fit and living a healthy and happy life.
