Knowing how to fakie on a snowboard is one of the elementary tricks in freestyle snowboarding. As with any trick, however, a fakie still takes skill and a mastery of the snowboard to pull off. Learning to do a fakie should not be taken lightly. It is recommended for the first timer to hit the beginner’s area to try your hand at a fakie before you advance. A fakie is a basic trick, but still you will want to be careful the first few times you attempt it. A fakie is a form of freestyle snowboarding, which in itself is a specialty sport. It requires a certain style of snowboard for the serious freestyler. Look at the steps below and try them out.

To do a fakie on a snowboard, you will need:

  • A snowboard
  • Slopes
  • Room to maneuver
  1. As stated, this is an elementary trick. There is very little involved in pulling off a fakie, but the change in position for many snowboarders can be tricky at first. Find yourself a nice strip of slope where you won’t have to be concerned with running into people.
  2. Doing a fakie refers to snowboarding backwards, leading with your rear foot instead of your lead foot. The idea is to learn to ride backwards when doing the fakie. In every aspect of general snowboarding, from stopping to turning and even transversing, that is all there is to a fakie.

What a fakie does for you as a snowboarder, besides give you a trick for your arsenal, is make you a better snowboarder. It also prepares you for other tricks, tricks that require turning or other maneuvers. Go out and have fun with this one.
