Even if you are an avid golfer, you may still be wondering, "How far should I stand from the golf ball?" Even the most experienced golfers sometimes have doubts. There is always room to improve your golf game. Golf handicaps can be reduced. Knowing how far to stand from the golf ball can be the difference between a mediocre and a great game.
- Using a tape measure to record your findings, measure the grip of your golf club. When using a traditional golf club, it will be approximately eleven inches.
- You want to then take the measurement of the length from the bottom tip of the grip to the upper tip of its hosel. Lie it flat, then pull the tape measure flat across this length with both hands, making sure to get a precise measurement. If it's the traditional 43-inch driver golf club, you're going to have a measurement of 28 inches. Record the measurement you get from this process.
- As long as you are a man of average height, that is the length that you should stand from the golf ball. That is, if you stand between 5'10" and 6'4", stand approximately 28 inches from your golf ball before you make a play.
- Keep in mind other factors as well. Never have a stance where the golf ball lies to the left of your left shoulder. Likewise, it should not lie to the right of your nose. This should give you a goal range of where the ball should sit in relation to your stance.
