When one is considering the Lamborghini Gallardo, one of the first questions that comes to mind is how fast does a Lamborghini Gallardo go? In the long and illustrious history of the Lamborghini company, the Gallardo has become the model with the highest production numbers. This is due mostly to the much lower cost than the big brother Murcielago. The Gallardo, however, does not give up anything in speed or performance and lives up to the Lamborghini heritage.
First introduced in 2003, the Lamborghini Gallardo was an immediate success for the designers and engineers from Lamborghini. The first Gallardos produced came equipped with a 500 horespower V-10 engine that could propel the small car to a top speed of 192 miles per hour. While the basic design and function of the Gallardo has not changed since its inception, there have been many variations on the model. These variations are due to special models being built to either honor the great history of Lamborghini, or as a model with more power derived from its new racing lineage.
2005 through 2008 came some new changes to the Gallardo lineup. These changes included the SE, Spyder and Nera versions. While all of these models shared the same powerplant, the horsepower numbers were boosted to 520 horsepower thus increasing the top speed of this car to 195 miles per hour. The Nera is a very popular and rare version that can only be purchased in black and has the unique distinction of allowing the consumer to view the modification packages available for the Gallardo.
From 2007 through 2008, the Gallardo offered another, more powerful version, the Superleggera. The Gallardo Superleggera was equipped with an upgraded 530 horsepower V-10 engine propelling the car to 62 miles per hour in only 3.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 196 miles per hour. The Superleggera version of the Lamborghini Gallardo was created to pay homage to the first Lamborghini model, the 350 GT, and has helped to further the super car image of the Gallardo.
In most recent years, since 2008, there have been four additions to the Lamborghini Gallardo line-up and each model has been able to reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour. The LP560-4 and the LP560-4 Spyder are 560 horsepower all-wheel drive monsters. Although smaller in size and power to the Murcielago, the Gallardo has still captured the attention of many automotive enthusiasts.
The latest and most powerful version of the Lamborghini Gallardo is the LP570-4 Superleggera. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera has a 570 horsepower V-10 engine mated to an all-wheel drive drivetrain. This allows the Gallardo to not only reach 62 miles per hour in only 3.4 seconds, it also allows the Gallardo to reach a top speed of 202 miles per hour. No matter which Lamborghini Gallardo model you are looking at, you can take pride in the knowledge that you are driving one of the premier supercars on the planet.
