You want to know how to fight like an MMA fighter. Fighting is not an easy thing to do. It takes extreme training, a strict diet, and the desire to be the best fighter you could possibly be. You cannot just want to know how to fight like an MMA fighter. You have to eat, breathe, and live your desire.

  1. Diet If you want to know how to fight like an MMA fighter, you have to eat like one.  You will have to eat good food for energy. The workouts are extreme and take up a lot of energy. Fuel for fighting comes from good food. A fighter will eat meats and vegetables. A MMA fighter will eat eggs, vegetables, spaghetti (without the sauce), and other high energy foods.  Many fighters will mix supplements and nutrients into their diets. Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated.
  2. Desire You have trained to be a MMA fighter. You believe you are ready to step into the ring and fight. Beware; the man standing across the ring has spent his time preparing to fight you. Make sure you are ready and willing to fight before you step into the ring.
  3. Sparring You have the desire to fight like an MMA fighter. You went through all of the training. You learned all the skills you need to succeed. Now you need to take those skills and put them together in a ring. This exercise takes a sparring partner. When you spar, you can find out where your skill level in MMA is. During this training, it is wise to have a coach who can points out your strengths and weaknesses.
  4. Training To fight like a MMA fighter takes extreme training. You will need to learn all aspects of fighting.  Here is a list of the types of fighting you will need to learn:
  • Stand up fighting Stand up fighting is more than just boxing. Stand up fighting is boxing, Judo, kicking (both high and low kicks), footwork, and elbowing. This group of fighting skills will take years in the gym to learn.
  • Wrestling A MMA fighter will learn how to wrestle if the fight goes to the ground.
  • Jiu Jitsu A MMA fighter will need to learn Jiu Jitsu when another opponent tries to put them in a submission hold. Jiu Jitsu is an art where a fighter learns submissions and how to get out of submissions. This skill takes years to learn and can save a fighter in big fight.
