If you have had no luck in the dating world, you surely would like to know how to find good dates online. The truth is, there is no magic formula to finding a good date, no matter what method you use. Online dating was once looked upon as an act of desperation, but with technology advancement and the development of reputable websites, it has been given its due credit. If you want to take the gamble and try to find true love, here are some words of advice to help you on your quest to find good dates online.

  1. Choose a trusted and reputable website to post on. There are many dating websites found online. As with any website, they can be scams whose purpose is to gather personal information. Look for outside and non-sponsored reviews and testimonials about the website. You can also check for certain security seals, such as the Better Business Bureau’s trusted business seal. Do not provide your social security number on the website. If you have to pay for a subscription, read over their rules and privacy policy before providing any payment information.
  2. Make your profile stand out. This is one of the most important parts of finding good dates online. This is when you have all control of how others perceive you. You never know who is looking at your profile, so it is best to put anything that you wouldn’t mind saying in front of friends and family. Be clear about what your intentions are. If you are looking for a relationship, explicitly state that. List traits about yourself that you think set you apart from others. Be sure not to reveal too much though. Some things are better left unsaid, or unwritten. You might want to mention if you’re married or have kids though.
  3. Have an open mind. Online dating allows you to meet people that may not be in your area. This person may have a totally different background than yours, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Conversely, online dating allows you to find someone with similar interests also. If you are comfortable with experiencing something different, don’t hesitate to contact people that you think may not be your type.
