Steps
- Before you try to find new careers, make sure you think it through. The old saying “The grass is always greener” is often true when it comes to making a career change. If you are determined to get out of your current job, before you give your notice make sure you find new careers that you are sure you will like.
- Search online to find new careers that may interest you. For example, if you like numbers, look for careers in accounting or finance. There are many websites you can use to help find new careers, so spend some time searching to see what is available to you. If you need some extra education to make the switch, you may want to hang onto your current job to help pay for the costs.
- Contact an employment agency to find new careers. Make an appointment to meet with an agent and tell them the type of work you are interested in. You may have to pay a fee if they find you a job, but the cost will be worth it if you land a position in a field you enjoy.
- Search the newspaper to find new careers. Look in the classified section under employment and see if there are any jobs listed in the field you want to work. Make an appointment to set up an interview and to fill out an application. If you get hired, that is the time to give notice to your current employer and then move on to greener pastures.
