Knowing how to fit a bike is useful, because it brings about an easier ride without the waste of time or money. Injuries can result in riding a bike that is not correctly adjusted to fit the rider’s body. A correctly adapted bike can provide exercise with less injuries and a more enjoyable riding experience. A few basic steps can assist you in learning how to fit a bike.

To fit a bike, you will need:

  • Bike
  • Allen screwdriver

  1. Select the right framework. Selecting the correct frame size is the first step needed in how to fit a bike. Achieve this segment by standing while positioned on the bike. The right size is when the space between the highest bar and your zipper region is at least 1-2".
  2. Sit at the right height. Making sure your seat is at the right height is the next step to achieving a properly fitted bike. If, while sitting on the bike, your knees are straight, then the seat position is wrong due to being too elevated. The optimum position is for legs to be slightly bent while on the bike seat.
  3. Manipulate the seat. Alter the angle of the seat for a more comfortable ride. Change the seat to a flat level, and then adjust to your preferences while completing how to fit a bike. Some riders prefer having the front of the seat tilted upwards.
  4. Handle the bar. Adjust the height of the handlebars to at least seat level. A correctly positioned handlebar negates any bends whiles riding. Changing handlebar height by removing the screw at its base is a useful approach to successfully fit a bike.
  5. Take the last step. All previous directives taken, you are now prepared to purchase and ride a bike that is properly fit to your preference. Enjoy riding your bike and be safe.

Tips and Warnings:

Severely bent knee equals a seat that is too low.

Low handlebars cause back and neck injuries.
