Learn how to flush your liver safely to reach and maintain a state of optimal health. The liver is one of the major organs of elimination. It is responsible for metabolizing food, breaking down fats, and eliminating waste from the body. A healthy liver translates to good circulation, proper digestion, clear skin, and overall vitality.

Why is it important to know how to flush your liver? An overburdened organ cannot function properly, leading to a build-up of toxins in the body, and poor metabolism of food. What does this mean? Over time, a weak liver, can be a foundational cause of serious illnesses, from heart disease to gallstones. Everything from alcohol and fatty foods, to environmental toxins and cigarette smoke, make this organ work harder. Flushing the liver safely on a regular basis is a great way to ensure health, slow the aging process, and prevent disease. Try this three-day detox, along with herbs and bodywork to flush the liver thoroughly and effectively.

  1. To detoxify and flush the liver, spend three full days on a liquid diet. Each morning, drink fresh lemon juice in warm water. Throughout the day, drink a mineral-rich potassium broth, fresh juices, such as cucumber, carrot, tomato, pineapple, papaya, and apple, and at least eight glasses of water every day. Drink cleansing teas, such as mint and green tea.
  2. Supplement with herbs to safely flush the liver. Drink from one to three cups daily of an herbal infusion made from any of the following herbs—dandelion, balmony, fennel, wild yams, barberry, cleavers, motherwort, yarrow, or wild indigo. Herbal tinctures are also beneficial. To cleanse and tone the liver, take a dropperful of any of these herbal tinctures, once a day.
  3. Take care of the body for a healthy liver. Get some form of physical activity every day, whether it be going for a walk, bike riding, or playing soccer. Try massage therapy to improve circulation. Get enough sleep; the liver actually does much of its work at night.

Take the time to flush your liver safely and effectively. The benefits of foundational well-being will be felt for decades.
