When researching how to fly to Mammoth, you're bound to come across Mammoth Yosemite Airport (MMH). Mammoth Yosemite Airport is located in the city of Mammoth Lakes, eleven miles east of Mammoth Mountain. This airport is the ski resort's closest airport and is a convenient way to get in and out of Mammoth at a low cost. Whether it be by airline or private aircraft, the airport has all the necessary accommodations for a pleasurable experience.

You will need one of the following:

  • Airline tickets
  • Private jet
  • Land line or cell phone (to call the shuttle!)
  1. Only one airline flies to Mammoth Yosemite Airport. Horizon Air is a regional carrier for Alaska Airlines. Non-stop service is available to Los Angeles International Airport year-round. Visitors can also fly to Mammoth from Reno, Portland, San Jose and Seattle during ski season. As of April 2010, Alaska Airlines is featuring direct flights to Los Angeles for $49 each way. When flying to Mammoth on Horizon Air, passengers are offered complimentary Starbucks coffee, soft drinks and snacks onboard the aircraft.
  2. Another way to fly to Mammoth is via private aircraft. Hot Creek Aviation has services for both small piston aircrafts along with larger jets. Private aircrafts offer an alternative to airline travel, so you get there at your own leisure. The airport features a 7,000 foot runway, which is capable of accommodating a large aircraft.
  3. After landing, figure out how to get to the mountain. Fortunately, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area provides an airport shuttle service for visitors flying into Mammoth Airport. The airport shuttle is complimentary for all guests staying at any Mammoth Mountain property. Public transportation is available free of charge in Mammoth Lake, allowing you to visit without worrying about a rental car.
