By keeping some basic guidelines in mind, you can learn about how to fold up shirt sleeves properly. No matter if you are interested in changing your look or simply want to cool down, these steps are sure to provide you with the tools necessary to learn how to properly roll the sleeves on your shirt. Be sure to practice in order to achieve optimal results.

  1. Lay the shirt down on a flat surface. Ideally, the shirt should be ironed at this point. Make sure the sleeves are extended to their longest possible length. Carefully unbutton all of the buttons that are on the cuff of the shirt.
  2. Hold one of the cuffs with your thumb inside the shirt and your other fingers on the outside. Use your thumb to carefully push the cuff up. Grab the cuff with your other fingers, and fold it towards the sleeve of the shirt. This is your first fold.
  3. Move your hand up, so the thumb and fingers are in the same position as initially described. Perform another fold of the cuff, making sure that the length of the fabric being folded is identical to the first fold.
  4. Continue this process another two or three times. Try on the shirt, and evaluate if the shirt sleeves have been rolled to the appropriate height. If you want the sleeves to be shorter yet, remove the shirt, and continue the process described in step three. With a little practice, your shirt sleeves will be perfectly rolled.
