How To Fold Towels Properly
It is important to learn how to fold towels properly before putting them away in your bathroom or linen closet. Towels that are folded well will stay neat and wrinkle-free in storage. This method of folding towels also allows you to pull a towel from storage and hang it on a towel rack without having to refold it. Store your folded towels by size and color to ensure that you can always find the towels you need.
To fold towels properly, you will need:
- Clean towels
-
A clean surface
- Prepare a folding area. Begin by placing a towel out on a clean hard surface. A desk, counter, or table is usually a good choice. Spread one towel out flat and get ready to fold.
-
Fold the towel in thirds. Fold the towel into even thirds lengthwise so that you have a long, even towel. Pay close attention to the lines of the towel to be sure that you are folding evenly and that the edges match up.
-
Fold the towel in half. Fold the towel in half widthwise. Line up the edges and make a good crease in the towel to keep it in place.
- Fold the towel in half again. Fold the towel in half once more and line the edges up again. The towel should now be a good size to store on a closet shelf or in a bathroom closet. Stack towels in even piles. When you wash a towel, fold it and return it to the bottom of the pile so that the towels wear evenly over time.
